if you really pay attention to the body after the shot with in the first 30secs the eyes swell very quickly....

i know when ive been arrested for overnighters and what not ... i'd get frisk before cuffs after cuffs and in the station before they ever walk out of the room on me (they make you feel like a cheap date.. frisk a couple times then shake out..lol)

It's definitely not fake. Its a real digitally recorded Surveillance video with Audio recording (I work in the Surveillance industry). The date and time stamp at the top is authentic.

The dripping is definitely blood splatter after the head falls to the side. Right after he pulls the trigger you can see brain matter coming out of the entrance wound. That last minute twitch of the head is just normal muscle spasm/twitch, the nervous system is still shutting down. Regardless, that is an AWESOME video!

This is fake. There was no flash from the gun muzzle. Ignoring the fact that it is impossible to fire a gun without flames shooting out of the barrel, he's also at point blank range and there is no exit wound. No way in hell is a 45 caliber bullet going to stay in your head from point blank range. There is also blood coming out of his right (our left) ear. When someone is shot in the head, blood does not run out their ears like that, if it comes out of their ears at all.

As far as him not being frisked... he may have been a witness. Witnesses often aren't frisked. What is the point of frisking someone you feel is there to help a case more forward?

ok...first of all, i doubt that any of you people that are saying this is fake have never seen someone actually get shot in the head, second that much blood is gonna come out of a blood capsule and he swallows the water you can here him take a breath after he drinks it, ive never been in jail but he could possibly have been a suspect for something so they might not have frisked him or thought about it much.

One more thing is that when he shoots himself, you can see his hair move which could be the impact of the bullet into the other side of his head, this could explain the blood coming out of his ear and i know this because ive seen bullets not travel completely through the body.

I saw my cousin's brother blow their dad's brains out on my front porch with a smaller caliber gun, not at point blank range, and there was a entry and exit wound. What the hell does drinking water and taking a deep breath have to do with anything? That wasn't much blood, but capsules weren't used, packets were. If you jump, your hair moves. He popped up like scared people do and his hair jumped. You've never seen a bullet of that caliber not exit the head from point blank range.

Its real, he was a witness, not somebody under arrest. What was so bad was the cops were more worried about what they were going to tell their boss than for the witness. They didn't even bother to at least give some basic medical attention to the guy. Sometimes people do survive these things, but why should the cops even care eh? i looked it up and this is real. it happened in san bernardino california. he was arrested after he had shot and critically wounded an officer at a traffic stop. he was an illegal alien from mexico and this video was only made public to prove he killed himself and no police were involved. i could not find if the officers who came in contact with him was punished. he had already shot one officer. they are lucky he didn't shoot more. i hope they won't make that same mistake again.

I seen a test on a myth busting show were they a 50 cal. carbine rifle in to the pool and recorded it on slow motion camera. The video shows Cerna pulling a .45-caliber handgun from his pants and firing one shot into his left temple.

"The best way to dispel any rumors was to have the media view this tape," said Undersheriff Bob Peppler.

The video, which sheriff's officials said was unedited, begins with Cerna being brought into an interview room where Sheriff's Sgt. Bobby Dean uncuffed him and had him sit in a chair in front of a table.

Cerna, looking tired and disheveled, only spoke briefly and in Spanish, replying to questions from Dean.

He leaned down on the table on his right arm for much of the time, occasionally rubbing his head, his nose and eyes with his hand, and coughing a few times. His eyes were downcast, only looking up a couple times when speaking to Dean. He responded with a short, tired laugh when Dean asked him the Spanish word for wallet and he responded " cartera."

Cernasat down with his back against the wall, took the cap off the water bottle, took two gulps, and put the bottle down. He started breathing heavily, pulled a large handgun from the front of his pants with his left hand and shot himself in the left temple.

The video ended with an expletive from Dean off camera.

With a Bullet that small they have been known to do a little bouncing around inside the skull a little and exit through a weakening.. such as in this case his neck. probably pinged around a bit in his skull and traveled down through the sarabellum to exit through his neck. the reason why I know this is the angle that he shot himself at was straight forward.. look at where the bullet exited.. neck! it's a pussy gun the 9MM and I hate them, but it'll still put a hole in you.. sure as shit.. That Gun was definately not a .45 ther is no Phucking was.. look at the exit wound from the angle.. that bullet bounced around for a while inside this mans skull before exiting through his neck. in through left temple, out through the neck.. at a horizontal angle.. this is definately messed up, no doubt of that.
I will hold off on the 'poor guy' comments considering he was taken in for shooting a cop in the first place... No comment was made about any priors he had, guy qualifies as a scumbag to me so no great loss to society there.
On the 'this is so fake' issue, there is no way in hell that this vid is fake. Everything that happens to this guy is obviously real. The head doesn't always blow up when hit with a bullet, even at close range. Bullets do strange things in the body sometimes, i have known folk to get hit in a shoulder only to have the damn thing exit out of an ass cheek.
He shoots himself and immediately his eyes visibly swell up due to the trauma of the shooting also the body tensing up immediately and the blood from the nose and mouth are textbook and yes he has blood coming from the other ear... That happens... All in all, not fake at all.

Nasty video and were i not already massively de-sensitized i would probably feel a little bit less human having watched it. I guess that is this years trip to the darker side of the internet over and done with... Late night boredom is a bitch.

Search called inadequate

Penrod said deputies failed to adequately search Cerna before he was put in a car, and again when he was transferred to the homicide division office. Each receiving deputy may have wrongly assumed the previous officer adequately searched the man, he said. Names of the arresting officers were not released.

Ron Martinelli, a police consultant and legal expert on law enforcement cases, said by phone Friday that the man should have been searched twice, stripped of his clothes, and put in a jump suit before he was ever put into an interview room.

"If they do a good search, and take his clothes, and put him in a jumpsuit, there's no problems of him not being handcuffed," he said.

Martinelli said 38 percent of all officers killed in the line of duty since 1980 died as a result of not doing a search, or doing a poor search, of a suspect.

Penrod said confusion among the three agencies involved - the Highway Patrol, San Bernardino police and the Sheriff's Department - may have contributed to the oversight.

"Obviously there was a mistake made," Penrod said by phone Friday. "It was hectic and it was a guy who was cuffed by somebody other than the transporting officer.

"Now we've got some procedural issues that we need to address - where did things go wrong," Penrod said. "I'm just glad this guy didn't kill anybody else and that our deputy is going to make it."

Traffic-stop shooting

Parham, the deputy shot by Cerna during the traffic stop, was in critical but stable condition with a wound in the abdomen that damaged his liver, stomach and lungs, Penrod said.

The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"He'll be home by Christmas," the sheriff said.

Parham, a deputy since 1998, was shot twice at about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of California and Adams streets in Muscoy, northwest of San Bernardino, said sheriff's spokeswoman Robin Haynal.

He was struck once in the abdomen and once in his bulletproof vest and taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center for surgery, she said.

The shooting unfolded after Parham tried to stop Cerna's white 1980 Nissan at the intersection of State and Adams streets, officials said.Cernawouldn't pull over, and Parham gave chase for about a minute along Adams Street until the suspect's car crossed California Street, jumped the curb and came to a stop, officials said.

As the deputy approached in his squad car, Cerna leaped from his vehicle with a large-caliber handgun, officials said.

He shot at the front of the deputy's car, hitting the windshield and then the hood, continuing to fire as he ran past the driver's side of the car where he blew out the side window, sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Beavers said.

Beavers said she didn't know the exact number of shots fired.

Parham wasn't able to get out of his car or fire back, officials said. He did radio for medical help, they said.

School put on lockdown

The scene of the shooting is south of California Elementary School, which was in session at the time, school officials said.

"At the time of the shooting there was a class outside participating in one of their PE lessons," said Linda Hill, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino City Unified School District. "Those students hit the ground as their teacher directed."

The campus was put on lockdown immediately following the shooting. Counselors were sent to the school to talk to both staff and students, Hill said.

After the shooting, Cerna attempted to run inside a house on Adams Street, but the resident ran into the house and locked the door, said sheriff's deputy Lt. Rick Carr . Cerna then ran through the back yard to a house on Mesa Street.

Sergio Quintero, 21, and his nephew, Roberto Deharo, 11, were sitting inside the garage when Cerna walked through the open door and offered $10 for a ride.

Quintero told the man he had no car and couldn't give him a ride. Cerna then asked for a shirt and Quintero gave him a black T-shirt bearing the picture of a snake.

Cerna also asked for a rake and shovel, which he took out into the front yard.

Quintero said he thought the situation was "weird," but didn't know that police were looking for the man.

But while Cerna was out front, Quintero noticed police officers in his back yard and asked if they were looking for someone. He said he then told them about the suspect in the front yard.

The police came out front, pulled their guns and told the suspect to get on the ground, Quintero said.

"They told him to stay down and don't move," Quintero said. "He laid on the ground and they handcuffed him."

i think that shit was real cuz i mean there is an exit wound on the right side of the neck while body convulses slightly and although the trajectory of the bullet may be off there is reports of small firearms, depending on the caliber and ammunition used, can be prone to a ricochet off of bone. The bullet did exit his head. It went out his other ear. You can see the blood flowing out of it near the end. The twitching is from his still living nervous system. Even though he'd almost instantly be brain dead, it takes several minutes for the rest of his body to die. The heart may actually beat a few more times because the heart beats are caused by nerve impulses generated near the spine instead of the brain. For those few seconds at the end, he is twitching like someone who's asleep because being asleep similarly disconnects the brain from the body to a great extent. If he aimed differently, he could have lived. If the gun shot the frontal lobe, he could have easily lived through it but with severe brain damage for obvious reasons.

Anyone who says that this video is fake is wrong. I was in the Army. I've seen videos of people dying... videos that will never leave my mind for reasons of sound and visuals...
One person said that a round like that would not stay in his head...and duh - if you look at his neck after his head falls to the side you will see the exit wound. Also, someone else said they've never seen a weapon being shot without fire coming out of it! Are you kidding... I've fired everything from blackpowder, M16A2s,35MM, 45MM, 22s, bb and everything in between. A bullet at that range (point black) has no "fire" dumbass. There is no air between the skin and muzzle so there is no fire and even most other weapons don't have visible fire. Maybe a spark, but no fire.
Another person said it is face because there aren't brains and/or grey matter splattered everywhere and also said that his whole head would be blown off - it is at point blank range so the round went straight through. You can't see the inside of his head but I guarantee it's fucked up inside. Did you see how quickly his eyes were super swollen? His insides up there were jacked within the first few seconds. Also, there was not much visible damage on the outside bc it was point blank. Had it been farther away his face would have seen much more damage from the blast not just the bullet... Over all it is sad and disturbing. For all you homos saying how cool it is...you have probably never deployed. It is never cool or funny. It is not uncommon for people to unscrew the squirty cap. the resaon the cops didn't try to do anything was because he was clearly dead, what you going to do put his brains back in, they are definitely on teh wall.

That IS a .45 M-1911 pistol. A semi jacketed hollow point bullet would not necessarily cause an exit wound, even at point blank range. Also, the skull is very thick and incredibly tough in that spot! I'm surprised he decided not to take a few cops with him!

Its the gun of choice for the IRA as if you get a head shot it will just ricochet until it stops, giving a definate kill, its also a lot quieter. Which would make me think that its real.

MUSCOY - A man who shot and wounded a San Bernardino County sheriff's deputy during a traffic stop in Muscoy on Friday morning killed himself an hour later while alone inside a sheriff's interview room with a pistol he apparently sneaked into the building, officials said.

Sheriff Gary Penrod said officers failed to adequately search the man, identified by the San Bernardino County Coroner's office as Ricardo Alfonso Cerna, 47, of San Bernardino.

The deputy shot during the traffic stop, Mike Parham, 31, is in critical but stable condition and is expected to recover, officials said.

In an extraordinary move, a 13-minute surveillance-camera video that included footage of the man's suicide was shown by the Sheriff's Department to reporters, the leaders of local Latino groups and officials from the Mexican consulate to quash any questions regarding the department's treatment of Hispanic subjects.

The video shows Cerna pulling a .45-caliber handgun from his pants and firing one shot into his left temple.

"The best way to dispel any rumors was to have the media view this tape," said Undersheriff Bob Peppler.
The video, which sheriff's officials said was unedited, begins with Cerna being brought into an interview room where Sheriff's Sgt. Bobby Dean uncuffed him and had him sit in a chair in front of a table.

Cerna, looking tired and disheveled, only spoke briefly and in Spanish, replying to questions from Dean.
He leaned down on the table on his right arm for much of the time, occasionally rubbing his head, his nose and eyes with his hand, and coughing a few times. His eyes were downcast, only looking up a couple times when speaking to Dean. He responded with a short, tired laugh when Dean asked him the Spanish word for wallet and he responded " cartera."

At one point, Dean took Cerna out of the interview room for about four minutes to have his fingerprints scanned electronically. The man was brought back shortly because the machine wasn't working at the time, officials said.

Shortly after they returned, someone brought in a bottle of water and a cup of coffee for Dean. Dean stepped out of the room, leaving Cerna alone.

Cernasat down with his back against the wall, took the cap off the water bottle, took two gulps, and put the bottle down. He started breathing heavily, pulled a large handgun from the front of his pants with his left hand and shot himself in the left temple. The video ended with an expletive from Dean off camera.


Penrod said deputies failed to adequately search Cerna before he was put in a car, and again when he was transferred to the homicide division office. Each receiving deputy may have wrongly assumed the previous officer adequately searched the man, he said. Names of the arresting officers were not released.

Ron Martinelli, a police consultant and legal expert on law enforcement cases, said by phone Friday that the man should have been searched twice, stripped of his clothes, and put in a jump suit before he was ever put into an interview room.

"If they do a good search, and take his clothes, and put him in a jumpsuit, there's no problems of him not being handcuffed," he said.

Martinelli said 38 percent of all officers killed in the line of duty since 1980 died as a result of not doing a search, or doing a poor search, of a suspect.

Penrod said confusion among the three agencies involved - the Highway Patrol, San Bernardino police and the Sheriff's Department - may have contributed to the oversight.

"Obviously there was a mistake made," Penrod said by phone Friday. "It was hectic and it was a guy who was cuffed by somebody other than the transporting officer.

"Now we've got some procedural issues that we need to address - where did things go wrong," Penrod said. "I'm just glad this guy didn't kill anybody else and that our deputy is going to make it."



Parham, the deputy shot by Cerna during the traffic stop, was in critical but stable condition with a wound in the abdomen that damaged his liver, stomach and lungs, Penrod said.
The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. "He'll be home by Christmas," the sheriff said.

Parham, a deputy since 1998, was shot twice at about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of California and Adams streets in Muscoy, northwest of San Bernardino, said sheriff's spokeswoman Robin Haynal.
He was struck once in the abdomen and once in his bulletproof vest and taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center for surgery, she said.

The shooting unfolded after Parham tried to stop Cerna's white 1980 Nissan at the intersection of State and Adams streets, officials said. Cerna wouldn't pull over, and Parham gave chase for about a minute along Adams Street until the suspect's car crossed California Street, jumped the curb and came to a stop, officials said.

As the deputy approached in his squad car, Cerna leaped from his vehicle with a large-caliber handgun, officials said.

He shot at the front of the deputy's car, hitting the windshield and then the hood, continuing to fire as he ran past the driver's side of the car where he blew out the side window, sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Beavers said.

Beavers said she didn't know the exact number of shots fired.

Parham wasn't able to get out of his car or fire back, officials said. He did radio for medical help, they said.



The scene of the shooting is south of California Elementary School, which was in session at the time, school officials said.

"At the time of the shooting there was a class outside participating in one of their PE lessons," said Linda Hill, spokeswoman for the San Bernardino City Unified School District. "Those students hit the ground as their teacher directed."

The campus was put on lockdown immediately following the shooting. Counselors were sent to the school to talk to both staff and students, Hill said.

After the shooting, Cerna attempted to run inside a house on Adams Street, but the resident ran into the house and locked the door, said sheriff's deputy Lt. Rick Carr . Cerna then ran through the back yard to a house on Mesa Street.

Sergio Quintero, 21, and his nephew, Roberto Deharo, 11, were sitting inside the garage when Cerna walked through the open door and offered $10 for a ride.

Quintero told the man he had no car and couldn't give him a ride. Cerna then asked for a shirt and Quintero gave him a black T-shirt bearing the picture of a snake.

Cerna also asked for a rake and shovel, which he took out into the front yard.

Quintero said he thought the situation was "weird," but didn't know that police were looking for the man.

But while Cerna was out front, Quintero noticed police officers in his back yard and asked if they were looking for someone. He said he then told them about the suspect in the front yard.
The police came out front, pulled their guns and told the suspect to get on the ground, Quintero said.
"They told him to stay down and don't move," Quintero said. "He laid on the ground and they handcuffed him."

There is definitely and entrance and exit wound. I check this incident out. It took place in Muscoy (San Bernardino County California). The man, Ricardo Alfonso Cerna (age 47 of Guatemala), was being pursued for a traffic violation when he shot the pursuing officer. He was detained at the County Sherriffs office. Wow...this is just neato. And yes, it's real. Unfortunately, my cousin, Michael, was babysitting me one day when I was about 7. I was sitting in front of the t.v. and he was sitting behind me on the couch. I remember a commercial came on so I was just about to get up for some reason when I heard a semi-loud clicking behind me. Before I turned completely around, he had already shot himself in the left temple. Now, I will admit, I wasn't your tipical kid, I liked weird things so. When I saw it...him, laying back on the couch (he was a fairly heavy-set teenager), the left side of his head was fine, other than the little whole the bullet went in to. But the right side, was completely gone. Not semetrically...but "chunky" if you will. Brain matter was still sliding down his right shoulder onto the couch. I don't remember exactly how long I stared at him before I finally went next foor for help but...it was long enough to record the image precisely and accurately. Like it was yesterday...and not 14 years ago.

To the people who are saying "That's the water dripping, not blood", it can't be the water dripping for two reasons. Looks real to me. Personally, Ive never seen an officially authentic vid of some dude shooting himself in the head to compare it to. The eye swelling, the amount of blood and the slow limpness all look real. The twitching is very accurate, its just residual movement of the appendages due to loss of contact with the brain, Ive seen that before. When I was younger I saw a truck accidently run over an old lady's head,it popped like a melon.The body was jumping all over the place.

This is real. 100% real just do a little fact checking around the net and you will find this wasn't faked. The only reason this footage got out was because this guys family hired a lawyer and someone in the law firm leaked it. I don't know if the family won their case but I hope they did. b)bigger calibers dont necessarily mean entry + exit wounds. it also depends on type of bullet, that is, hollowpoints etc. smaller bullets are more likely to pass thru as its smaller profile allows a peircing effect, but again that depends on type of bullet.

The video looks real. I can't believe it was a .45 caliber despite the news article (could be a reporting error like the frisk error). It looked more like a 380. I found it interesting that he held the water bottle and drank from it with his right hand but fired with his left. I know, he could be one of those people that do different tasks with different hands.
I can only speculate that he had more than one weapon. He was arrested for shooting another officer. That weapon was probably taken away and was assumed to be the only weapon involved.

thats 100% a forgery ive worked in a funeral home for over 15 years worked with countless coroners and seen countless murders/suicides. talk about swelling and twitching? your body would not begin to swell that quick and the only reason it would swell is because of excess blood rushing into the area thereafter rigormortis taking place. also another point to bring up, the pistol resembled a .45 caliber pistol in wich i own that kind of firepower would not only tear through the other side of his skull and leave fragments of brain hair blood skull matter ect. all over the wall wich sits only feet from the other side of his head. I'm guessing its a 22. but could be something else like a 32. or something, anyway looks pretty real and bullets don't always exit the scull at point blank range. It's just a small bullet with little power, still anything entering a vital part of your brain in a millisecond with that kind of speed will kill you instantly. OK, I have watched this many time and have come to some conclusions. The film has been edited because the cop clearly throws something on the table which makes a sound but is not visible in the video. I am an ARMY veteren and work in the law enforcement community; my wife is a nursing student.

1. The .45 caliber 1911 more than likely has a hollwed point round which is made to mushroom upon impact (little to no exit wound.)

2. The casing of the bullet was exited towards the wall and probably landed on the floor under the victims' chair after bouncing off the wall.

3. The swelling of the eye is condusive to the immidiate build up of cerebrial fluid and blood inside the cranial cavity.

4. The twitching of the body after initial impact is caused by the shutting down of the nerveious system and musclular system.

5. This is real folks. Hollywood has it wrong. This is the true face of trauma to the head resulting in DEATH.
