Collateral Murder - Civilians Killed In Iraq

Video footage from a US Apache helicopter in 2007. It shows Reuters journalist-Namir Noor Eldeen, driver-Saeed Chmagh, and several others as the Apache shoots and kills them in a public square in Eastern Baghdad. They are apparently assumed to be insurgents. After the initial shooting, an unarmed group of adults and children in a minivan arrives on the scene and attempts to transport the wounded. They are fired upon as well. The official statement on this incident initially listed all adults as insurgents and claimed the US military did not know how the deaths occurred. Wikileaks released this video with transcripts and a package of supporting documents on April 5th 2010.

oh wait there might've been weapons, but where was the shots fired? phuck...

Reply

i do not feel sorry for them in the slightest if i'm completely honest

Reply

That was awesome and I think the soldiers acted absolutely right.I would have shot too.(especially when that guy peeks around the corner as if he was holding an rpg)

Reply

really good game, is it cod7 ?

As you can see from the audio and the video. They looked to have weapons. These soldiers are in an area where anyone could be an insurgent. They made the right call..  but I guarantee people are going to use this as a means to show that americans want to kill all the civilians.

I can't believe those dumb comments over me...
the soldiers acted in no way right, saying me as an army officer myself.
there weren't any shots fired, unlike the heli crew said. and the people standing together are CLEARLY in a relaxed behavior, nothing like they are going to fight or trying to hide themselves.
It is even easy to see, that most of these people are DEFINITELY unarmed.
first: a rpg is a large thing, nothing you can cover in your pocket, if there was one, they would have seen it before.
second: it has a easy recognizable, long top, no short tube like seen in the vid.
Well, if they would have thought, they were in danger because this man tried to shoot at them, it would be semi-ok, if they would have shot when he peaked around the corner.
BUT IF THEY WOULD HAVE KNOWN THERE IS A APACHE FLYING AROUND, WOULDN'T THE OTHERS TAKE COVER??? But it's clear they staying relaxed right in the middle of the road.

Well you stupid mofus, would it be awesome too, if it would have been someone you know?
If it would be one of your relatives, your parents, your wife/husband, your child, your friends?
But hey, they stood in the wrong place at the wrong time, their own fault, yes?

More than i hate those happy trigger soldiers (laughing about killing someone... what is wrong with them?), i hate you guys saying it's awesome.
Better hope you never loose someone loved by such an incident.
Only because these people live thousands of miles away from you, doesn't mean they are not humans like you and me.

and btw, warzone? i don't know, but isn't the actual war over since late 2003?
There is no warzone anymore. Life is going on in iraq. well, if you have to fear being killed if you group up, i can really understand why the iraq people don't like the us-troops in their country...
GET IT:
every innocent killed creates new insurgents.

Reply

and saying afterwards it was their own fault, and you didn't make any mistake, does it even more...

Reply

Well trained obviously - so easy to mistake a camera with zoom lens for an RPG ::rolleyes::

8 civilians dead, 2 reuters staff gone and hundreds more insurgents converted to the cause - well done USA!

Reply

and muslims are called terrorists.... the biggest terrorists are americans and israeilis, they are the one who are invading muslim countries, so muslims have the right to defend themselves, and if u fuckers call them terrorists for that, then so be it.

Reply

The american military seems to have a bit of a thing for shooting journalists and camera men - are the pilots still flying missions wasted on speed or is it just too many xbox games?

Reply

hey , mr chronos. your a bitch. 1 how can you fucking sympathise with any of them. 2 dont claim to be an army officer and then act like a pussy. 3 if your just gonna cry about it, get the phuck off this sight. lol

sincerely yours - a trigger happy soldier.

Reply

Well berger, in germany soldiers still THINK with their head...
1 why shouldn't i sympathise with CIVILIANS being killed innocently? They were no terrorists, neither insurgents, just civilians.
2 yeah, you have to be a tough man to be in the army. you shouldn't care too much about what you kill, because often enough it is one of your own comerades. Say hello to the number one friendly fire nation USA!
3 you don't have to say what i have to do, or what not.

sincerly yours, a not brain-washed soldier

ah, btw, had been in your officer training program for a month with its finishing training. your officers couldn't read a map properly, get lost within 200 meters. they don't know how to secure an area against enemies, how to communicate within the squad in a combat situation. well just signal corps, but hey, shouldn't every soldier learn this basic stuff?
i lead the group 1,5 mile through the forest, just with a compass and for the instructors i became kind of ubersoldier because of this. well in german officer training you do such things at least once a month. so it was no big deal. not the worst idea, since GPS can have malfunctions, too.
but i guess, as long as they can pull the trigger, they are good enough soldiers, eh?

and if officers are trained that badly, i don't want to know, how regular soldiers are trained...

Australia Asians are Grotesque

That's some pretty fucked up shit. The Iraq war is a Jewish war, a war for the continuation of economics by America and Israel, war profits the rich immensely.

Reply

Thats what i call a multi kill. Hope he got a tac nuke, and to everyone who is saying that this is fucked up, Get off the site NOW!!!!  The soldiers thought that they could be a threat to ground troops, and yes i know that that was a camera, SHIT HAPPENS mistakes are made.

Reply

The latter action may have been a war crime since the van was trying to pick up the wounded and it is illegal to fire on the wounded and those hors de combat.  They may have not been wearing media clothing but i think they should have circled a couple of more times to wait for ground troops to arrive to handle the situation with minimal gun fire. i truly have no experience with the army (except on xbox ahaha). But the people saying the way they talked is horrid well some of it is but, i mean look at when your on the job site you don't talk with etiquette.

Reply

not cool... why are they happy about killing someone, good or bad nobody should be happy or feel exilerated when they kill a person.

Reply

you have noooooo idea how comforting it is to hear those guys overhead when some shit pops off..

if you have an RPG you shouldn't be outside during war and expect not to get shot... if you are hanging out with someone with an RPG expect the same to happen to you as happens to him... they label the guys with cameras.. but they don't label the RPG... 3:42-4:00 you can clearly see an RPG... about 4:07 you can see the RPG guy crouched down looking around the corner of the building...

if people got blown up by a helicopter for some reason... and you decide to get out onto the battlefield to police up those bodies you are risking your life... if you bring your kids out into that situation with you... you are a shit-bag parent... if there were a fist-fight in my street.. I wouldn't allow my son out of the house...

Reply

correction... at 4:07 you can see "A man with an RPG" not the same guy as around the 3:45 mark

Reply

Dan, do you have actually any idea what an RPG looks like?
Here's a picture for you:

http://www.danskpanser.dk/images/RPG-7_2stor.jpg

And every soldier (at least if he's trained well) knows it.
There is no way you can take this guy around the corner for someone with a rpg.
It was a reporter with a camera, only because the pilots say it is a guy with a rpg doesn't mean there IS a guy with a rpg.

And the people with the van:
They were were driving there by and see injured people. They don't know what happened, no soldiers, no one else is there besides the injured, perhaps they thought it was a IED explosion or a bombing attack and would help. Hell, injuries from the 30 mm cannon of the apache don't even look like shot injuries for a non specialist.

And i repeat: There is no battlefield in iraq, there are insurgents but they can hide everywhere. So don't come with "if they take their childs with them to the battlefield"...

You are the proof, that too much nationalism isn't good in companionship with minor intelligence.

Reply

yeah.. you're right.. that is prolly a camera around the corner... pause it at 3:45... and tell me what you see..

30mm sounds nothing like an IED... or a bombing run...

had I changed "battlefield" to "firefight" would that make you happy?

Mrchronos thanks for telling these demented freaks off. i hope they arent really soldiers in our military, if so, i am ashamed to call myself and american.

Reply

Preston: If you are ashamed to call yourself an american, clean the cum out of your panties and get the fuck out!!! And to Mrchronos: I will just quot General Patton " May god have mercy on my enemies because i woun't"

Berger, you are exactly the kind of bastard I would shoot in the back of the head if you were my unit talking that kind of shit....friendly fire can be a wonderful thing. First off, if you are over there to do a job. DO IT. Dont look for innocent people to engage on b/c you want bragging rights when you go back home. NO weapons were found. Tell me how they were insurgents. I swear some people have no f'ing morals, and I bet if the script was flipped and you are your family were the ones being engaged, you would be singing a different song.

Mr. Chronos, I agree with you implicitly. As a vet myself I understand what its like to be over there worrying about your own ass as well as your buddy's, but at the same time keeping an eye out so your buddy doesnt pull some stupid shit at the same time.

that was phuckin great phuck those iraqi mutha phuckas. killum all!!! phuck all those dirt countries in the middle east. to bad they only killed 10-15.

Reply

I don't know exactly how I feel about this one. I mean its clear that a few of the man did have guns. But, should it be allowed for air support to fire because of there lack of knowledge of who in the possible vicinity is actually an insergent? I mean a couple of those men could have just been walking close by and not even know the suppossed "insergents". I would have felt this could have been handled far better with strictly a troop of ground support to engage and actually see closely what was going on. Not to mention it is disgusting and just flat out wrong for some of the U.S. military men responsible for this air communication to be joking about running over dead bodies and laughing about killing the suppossed "bastards". This world is so fucked up. Honestly. This shit is the reason why 50% of americans alone are on anti-depressents. God only knows about other countries. I mean seriously people. I can't even watch the local news anymore without wishing I had a xanax. Sad, sad, sad.....does anyone agree with me that this world cannot continue like this?

Reply

I agree completely with MrCronos by the way. Smart indivdual and a good hearted one at that.

Mistakes happen. It's no excuse but it's true, and I'm sure MrChronos knows that, as well that German Soldiers have probably killed civilians (be it an accident or not and no, this is not a Holocaust joke)but anyone, American or not, in these comments saying shit like "this is awesome!" needs to leave and do a serious reflection. Be thankful that these people were not your friends, neighbors, or family.

It's relatively easy to sync an iPad's calendar, email, and contacts to google apps, though there are some gaps in how it works. DeviceGuru's iPad has this implemented, and it's been working quite well. I've found it best to use IMAP for mail and ActiveSync for contacts and calendars.
